"On $100" assumes a domestic payment. Select your fee type above to compute your own amount.
Fee on an amount vs. amount to ask for
If you already know what you were paid, use "Fee on an amount received": $100.00 received for goods & services nets $96.52 after a $3.48 fee. If you need to land a specific amount instead — say, to cover a $100 cost exactly — use "Amount to ask for": to net $100 after the goods & services fee, ask for $103.59.
International payments and Instant Transfer
International payments add 1.5% on top of the domestic rate — a $100.00 international goods & services payment costs $4.98 in fees instead of $3.48. Separately, moving money out of PayPal instantly (rather than the free 1-3 business day standard transfer) costs 1.75% of the amount, with roughly a $0.25 minimum and $25.00 maximum — see the Instant Transfer box in the calculator above.

Frequently asked questions
Does PayPal charge a fee?
Yes, on most payments you receive for goods or services: 2.99% + $0.49, so a $100.00 payment nets $96.52. Payments through PayPal Checkout on a website or through a PayPal invoice are 3.49% + $0.49. Sending "friends and family" money from your balance or bank account is free; paying for it with a card costs the sender 2.90% + $0.30.
What is the PayPal goods and services fee?
2.99% of the payment plus a fixed $0.49, paid by the seller (the person receiving the money). On a $100.00 payment the fee is $3.48 and you keep $96.52. It's the same whether the buyer pays from their PayPal balance, bank account or card. In exchange, the buyer gets PayPal Purchase Protection.
What is the "PayPal to PayPal" fee (sending to another person)?
It depends what you're sending it as. "Friends and family" funded by your bank account or PayPal balance has no fee. Funded by a card, the sender pays 2.90% + $0.30 on top: sending $100.00 costs $3.20 extra ($103.20 in total), and the recipient still gets the full $100.00. "Goods and services" payments use the goods & services rate instead, paid by the recipient.
How do I calculate the amount to ask for so I net a specific amount?
Use "Amount to ask for" mode above. Amount to ask = (target + fixed fee) ÷ (1 − rate). To net $100 after the 2.99% + $0.49 goods & services fee, ask for $103.59: PayPal takes $3.59, leaving $100.
Does PayPal charge more for international payments?
Yes. PayPal adds 1.5% to the domestic rate for a cross-border payment. A $100.00 goods & services payment that costs $3.48 domestically costs $4.98 from abroad. If a currency conversion happens, PayPal's exchange-rate spread comes on top; tick "International payment" above to include the 1.5%.
What is the PayPal Instant Transfer fee?
1.75% of the amount you move from your PayPal balance to your bank or debit card instantly, with roughly a $0.25 minimum and $25.00 maximum fee on a personal account. Moving $100.00 costs $1.75 instantly; a small $5.00 transfer is charged the $0.25 minimum instead of the smaller percentage amount. The free "standard transfer" (1-3 business days) has no fee at all.
Why is my PayPal fee different from this calculator?
The most common reasons: the payment came from another country (add 1.5%), it came through PayPal Checkout or an invoice (3.49% + $0.49 instead of 2.99% + $0.49), your account has custom merchant rates, or PayPal changed its fees after September 2026. The rate and fixed fee are editable above, so you can match your transaction details exactly.
Are these the fees for a business account, or a personal account?
These are PayPal's published rates for standard US domestic transactions, which mostly apply the same way to personal and business accounts for goods & services and friends & family payments. Some business-specific programs (high-volume merchant rates, micropayments, PayPal Pay Later, subscriptions) use different published rates not covered here -- check PayPal's merchant fees page for your specific setup if you're unsure.
